Digital photos show grey bars on side or bottom ?
My neighbor has a Canon Powershot S315. Her photos lately have grey bars on the side or bottom and top. This shows up both in the camera and when the photos are downloaded. She does not know what she did to create this and is having no luck with her manual. Does anyone know the answer to this?
I agree the memory card is the first place to start with the problem. Yes, try cleaning the card contacts, but I also suggest you do a FORMAT of the card in the camera. If all she ever does is erase the photos, that does not truly clear the card and junk bits of data remain and over time can cause some weird problems. So, if after cleaning and doing the card format, if you still have problems, then try another card. I imagine she is not using the card that came with the camera as it is of such low capacity. But for troubleshooting purposes, she can try the original card to see if it solves the problem. If she IS using the original card, then I would go to a camera shop and let them try another card in the camera before buying a new one. If that solves the problem, then all she has to do is buy a new card. If the problem is still there, then it sounds like it is time to contact Canon service as it is likely a camera defect that may or may not be cost effective to repair.
